Resources

Aside from the links posted in the "Discovery" section, here are some texts I borrowed from the Everett Public Library:

Berry, Don. The Lowell Story: A Community History. Everett, WA: Lowell Civic Association. 1985.

Clark, Norman H. Mill Town: A Social History of Everett, Washington. Seattle, WA: University of Washington Press. 1970.

Hayes, Derek. Historical Atlas of the Pacific Northwest. Seattle, WA: Sasquatch Books. 1999.

O’Donnell, Lawrence E. and O’Donnell, Jack C. The Evolution of a Vibrant Everett Waterfront: A Story of Sawdust, Salmon, and Speedboats. Everett, WA: Port of Everett Publication. 2010.

Pettersen, Alvin B. Collected Memories. Everett, WA: Snohomish County Museum and Historical Association. 1999.

Ruby, Robert H. and Brown, John A. A Guide to the Indian Tribes of the Pacific Northwest. Norman, OK: University of Oklahoma Press. 1986.

Shelton, William. Indian Totem Legends of the Northwest Country and the Story of the Totem Pole. Tulalip, WA: Tulalip Indian Reservation. 1913.

Whitfield, William. History of Snohomish County Vol. 1. Seattle, WA: Pioneer Historical Publishing Company. 1926.

I also made visits to the Everett Public Library's Northwest History Room, and the Hibulb Cultural Center. I can't recommend both of them enough.

Lastly, an invaluable part of my research was taking walks at the various parks throughout Everett, visiting historical sites, and walking up and down Hewitt Ave. Get out there.
